The revised budget presented by Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has given extra care for Ranni, Raju Abraham, MLA, has said.

Mr. Abraham said the Ranni Assembly segment was receiving such an allocation aimed at overall development of the constituency for the first time. He said the proposal to set up a modern rubber park at Ranni would be of relief to rubber growers. Though the previous Left Democratic Front government had announced a rubber park for Ranni, the United Democratic Front government had shelved the project.

The budget had also made an allocation of Rs 10 crore each for a new bridge across the Pampa at Upasanakkadavu in Ranni and another bridge across the Kakkattar at Vadasserikkara.

The Valankara-Ayroor road and Jacob’s Road would be developed to international standards, spending Rs 10 crore each.

Mr. Abraham said Rs. 150 crore had been allotted for implementing various projects prescribed in the Sabarimala Master Plan.

He said Rs. 20 crore each had been allotted for construction of a modern sewage treatment plant at Pampa and a queue complex at Sabarimala. This was besides the budget allocation of Rs. 5 crore for the proposed new bridge at Pampa-Triveni, Rs. 5 crore for Nilackal base camp development, and Rs.100 crore for pilgrim base camps, the MLA said.

Mr. Abraham said an allocation of Rs 5 crore had been made for production of value-added jackfruit products at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Thelliyoor.
