Policeman taken into custody

The Kanjirappally police have taken into custody Shemim Mon, alias Shaji, a civil police officer at Peruvanthanam police station, for allegedly threatening a minor with pistol.

The minor’s relatives said that the civil police officer had beaten up the boy alleging he had trod on his footwear while coming out of the evening prayers at a mosque and later accused him of stealing them.

Later the civil police officer came to the boy’s house and threatened him with a pistol, they said.

Following this, the boy and his mother had lodged a complained with the Kanjirappally police.

Based on the complaint, the civil police officer was taken into custody.
