In a first of its kind initiative aimed at evolving better perspectives on new-age poetry in Malayalam, over 100 poets from across the State and outside would meet at Sree Neelakanta Government Sanskrit College at Pattambi on April 2 and 3.

Titled ‘Carnival of Poetry,’ the event is being organised by the Malayalam Department of the college in association with the ‘Malayalanaadu’ online magazine. According to chief organiser Santhosh Hrishikesh, a faculty member of the college, the mega poetry event would also witness coming together of over 600 poetry lovers from across the State. They will directly engage with poets and critics.

“Though it is a poetry festival, entry is not confined to poets and poetry lovers. Anybody with a creative mind can turn up. Though the focus is on poetry, other branches of Malayalam literature would also be explored,” Mr. Hrishikesh said. The programmes include lectures, seminars, open forums, poetry recitals, art exhibitions, staging of dramas and film screenings.
