: A Haj training camp conducted by the Madin Academy at Swalat Nagar here on Tuesday demanded the resumption of Karipur as an embarkation point of Haj in the State. The Haj embarkation was shifted from Karipur to Nedumbassery last year owing to runway repairs.

A resolution adopted by the Haj camp sought the new government’s intervention to bring back Haj embarkation to Karipur. The camp also asked the government not to support “the calculated move to kill Karipur airport.”

The organizers said more than 5,000 prospective Hajis from different parts of the State attended the 19th edition of the camp. The former Haj Committee chairman, A.K. Abdul Hameed, inaugurated the camp. Madin Chairman Sayed Ibrahim Khaleel Bukhari delivered the keynote address.
