Triggering panic, an LPG tanker overturned into a ten-feet deep ditch at Shiriya near Kumbla on Tuesday. The police, Fire and Rescue Services personnel and IOC officials from Mangaluru rushed to the spot and managed to transfer the gas from the ill-fated vehicle to another tanker, thereby averting a major fire tragedy.

The mishap occurred around 11.30 a.m., when the driver of the tanker, transporting LPG of the Indian Oil Corporation from Mangaluru, lost control of the vehicle and turned turtle into the roadside ditch. The truck crew escaped with minor injuries.
