In a significant move, the State government has appointed former Infopark Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hrishikesh Nair the CEO of both Infopark and Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, the two flagship IT ventures of the State.

Mr. Nair assumed charge at Technopark on Thursday. It is for the first time a CEO has been put in charge of both projects, a move which is expected to ensure their seamless development.

He had stepped down as Infopark CEO last month after a three-year stint. However, the government reportedly requested him to continue with the additional responsibility.

Mr. Nair was originally appointed Infopark CEO for two years, and he had expressed desire to quit when his term ended in July. However, he stayed on at the instance of then Information Technology Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty.

He had put in his papers in April well before the Assembly election.

When Mr. Nair took charge as CEO, Infopark had a built-up area of 30 lakh sq.ft, which doubled in the last three years. The number of companies at the facility also rose from 146 to 220.
