What we see today is the growing intolerance various spheres fostered by influential group in the society and the murders of Maharashtrian rationalist-author Narendra Dabholkar, Leftist writer Govind Pansare, and noted litterateur and Kannada University Vice-Chancellor M.M. Kalburgi are a sheer testimony to the disturbing tendency, she says.

Ms. Salma was speaking after inaugurating the 4th South India Writers’ Ensemble held at the famed Edeneer Mutt near here on Sunday. Documentarian and Malayalam poet Anwar Ali presided over the function, also addressed by Congress leader and former MLA P.C. Vishnunath.
