The decomposed body of an unidentified youth was found in an abandoned well in a compound at Manali, near the National Highway, on Wednesday.

The police said the youth’s age was estimated to be between 25 and 45. The body was suspected to be five days old and had started decomposing.

The police suspect it to be a case of murder as the body bore injuries.

The body has been shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital here for post-mortem examination.

The local people alerted the police as foul smell started emanating from the well. The police found blood smears at the abandoned building near the well.

A plastic wire with a knot and some cloths were also found.
