Contraband tobacco products seized

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized contraband tobacco products from a running train during a raid between Kasaragod and Kannur on Tuesday.

RPF officials said the seized tobacco item was worth around Rs.2 lakh. Two persons carrying the products were arrested. They have been identified as Mohandas (58) from Kodungallur, and A. Shabir Hussain (33) from Murshidabad in West Bengal. The smuggled products were seized during the raid on the Mangalore-Coimbatore Intercity Express at 1.20 p.m., they said. The raid was led by RPF Sub Inspector Bharatharaj C.M. and Assistant Sub Inspector V.P. Intish. The seized tobacco products were handed over to the Railway Police here. — Special Correspondent
