Final touches are being given for the arrangements for the consecration of Kurian Mathew Vayalumkal, Apostolic Nuncio (Diplomatic representative of Vatican) to Papua New Guinea and titular Archbishop of Ratairia on Monday, organisers said.
The celebration of his consecration ceremony will be led by Archbishop Mathew Moolekkatt, head of the Knanaya Archeparchy of Kottayam, at the Christ the King Cathedral in the town.
Monsignor Vayalumkal, a member of Kottayam Knanaya Archeparchy, has been with the Diplomatic corps of Vatican since 1998.
Family
He was appointed Apostilic Nuncio of Papua New Guinea on May 3.
Son of M.C. Mathai and Annamma Mathai of Vayalumkal House, Neendoor, Monsignor Vayalumkal has functioned in Hungary, Korea, Dominican Republic, Egypt and Bangladesh in his diplomatic capacity.
Deputed to Haiti
He was deputed to Haiti after a massive earthquake to oversee the humanitarian work taken up by the Vatican. According to organisers, nearly 50 bishops including those from the Vatican Diplomatic corps will participate in the celebration.
The ceremonies will commence by 2.30 p.m.
