Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre Anil Bhardwaj has said one of the core challenges of the communication sector is to enable signal communication reach the speed of light or even more.

Dr. Bhardwaj was addressing a gathering here on Friday after inaugurating a two-day International Conference on Computing, Communication and Signal Processing (ICCCSP).

Focus of research

He said all research work in the communication sector would be concentrating on this aspect. Signal processing was vital to all forms of communication and computing, Dr. Bhardwaj said, stressing on the importance of a conference such as the ICCCSP at this juncture.

Addressing the conference, V.P.N. Nampoothiri, emeritus professor at the International School of Photonics attached to Cusat, said the divide between various branches of science and engineering was getting reduced as there was a need for the branches to coordinate with each other while engaging in research.

The conference was organised by the College of Engineering, Karunagapally.
