Collector’s directive on MPLAD schemes

June 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated September 16, 2016 11:01 am IST - KANNUR:

District Collector P. Bala Kiran called upon officials to complete estimates of projects under the MP’s local area development (MPLAD) scheme to ensure that they are accorded administrative sanction in a month after their submission.

The Collector’s instruction was given at an official meeting here on June 4 to review progress of works under the MPLAD fund in response to Rajya Sabha Member K.K. Ragesh’s suggestion that steps be taken to avoid delay in granting administrative sanction to the projects.

The proceedings of the meeting were briefed in an official press release. The Collector directed District Planning Officers concerned to report in 15 days if any project submitted under the MPLAD fund scheme could not be sanctioned.

The MP told the meeting that while the works under the MPLAD scheme were progressing in Kannur, Malappuram and Wayanad districts, works in Kozhikode district were hit by undue delay in giving administrative sanction. The projects were still awaiting administrative sanction though they were submitted five or six months ago, he said.
