Cherukolpuzha meet begins

The Advaita Vedanta philosophy is helpful in bringing about social integration and its teachings will foster universal brotherhood, Maha Mandaleswar Swami Divyananda Saraswati of the Kailas Ashram at Rishikesh has said.

The seer was inaugurating the 104th annual Hindu religious meet, organised by the Ayroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindumatha Maha Mandalam (HMM), on the sandbed of the Pampa river at Cherukolpuzha, near Kozhencherry, on Sunday afternoon.

O. Rajagopal, former Union Minister, presided the inaugural function and HMM president T.N. Upendranatha Kurup welcomed the gathering. Swami Prajnananda Therthapadar, head of the Theerthapada Ashram at Vazhoor, delivered the keynote address.

P.J. Kurien, Deputy Speaker of Rajya Sabha, delivered the keynote address. Raju Abraham, MLA, Swami Sankarananda Theerthapadar, and Swami Vedamritananda of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math addressed the function. Swami Satchidananda of the Gayatri Ashram, Chalakkudy, delivered a religious discourse on Upanishads, at 7 p.m.
