April 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - MALAPPURAM:

A meeting of writers held at Tirur on Friday called upon the people to forgive those who destroyed a library at B.P. Angadi recently and to observe the period from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 as the year of books.

The meeting pointed out that forgiving the guilty and observance of the year of books would be the best way out to uphold the value of libraries. It called upon all stakeholders, including writers, readers, publishers and library workers, to donate books to libraries during the period.

Poet Manambur Rajanbabu presided over the meeting. Writes Vysakhan, Prabha Varma, Alankode Leelakrishnan and P.K. Gopi spoke.
