The 10th Thekkady Flower Show is a rich visual feast, with golden, red and blue blooms from the region and beyond laying an alluring spread.

The Mannarath grounds on the Kumily-Thekkady road, where the flower festival is being held, also opens to a green cover that emerges as visitors move towards the plants of cypress, German grass, and torenia.

Till March 17

The show, which began on Saturday and will end on March 17, is being organised by the Thekkady Agri-Horticulture Society in association with the Kumily grama panchayat.

The flower festival will also have cultural and arts programmes, competitions, seminars and discussions on farm-related issues daily.

The main attraction, however, is the beautifully arranged flower plants.

Also colourfully and aesthetically arranged are blooms such as Kalanchoe, gerbera, gaznia, chrysanthamam, poisettia, cosmos, jasmine, marigold, celosia, phlox, Kashmir rose, and petunia.

“This time, we gave importance to introduce those flowers that are not much familiar to the people here. All these flowers could also be grown here as the climatic and soil conditions are found favourable,” said a senior convenor of the programme.

For those looking for a fun-filled evening apart from some time with flowers, the event also offers entertainment programmes, an amusement park, and a food court.
