Airport road: steps to resume survey

As efforts are under way to expedite the road development projects proposed for catering to infrastructural requirement envisaged in view of the Kannur International Airport coming up near Mattannur here, the district administration is planning to convene a high-level meeting of stakeholders and representatives of political parties to resume the survey of the proposed greenfield road from Kannur to Mattannur stalled by protests from local residents.

“The survey works were stalled a few years ago following violent protest by the residents under the aegis of an action committee. The district administration wants the survey to be held without police deployment.
