Thirty more candidates filed nomination papers on Friday, the last day of filing nominations for the Assembly election, taking the total number of aspirants from the district to 60.

Prominent candidates who filed their papers on the day include Congress nominee from Uduma K. Sudhakaran, BJP leader contesting from Uduma K. Sreekanth, Congress nominee from Kanhangad E.P. Dhanya, and BJP aspirant from Thrikkarippur M. Bhaskaran.

Others who furnished their papers include aspirants from the BSP and the Trinamool Congress.

41 in Wayanad

Staff Reporter in Wayanad writes:

As many as 41 candidates filed their nominations in the three constituencies of Wayanad district Friday.

Fourteen candidates, including four in Sulthan Bathery and five in Mananthavadi filed papers on the day.

Among those who filed nominations on Friday were K.D. Joseph ( Welfare Party) and P.T. Raju (Hindu Maha Sabha) in Kalpetta Assembly segment; Mani Narayanan (Trinamool Congress) in Sulthan Bathery, and Paleri Raman (Bharatiya Janata Party) in Mananthavadi constituency.
