As many as 170 polling booths spread across the five Assembly segments of Aranmula, Thiruvalla, Adoor, Konni, and Ranni in Pathanamthitta district have been identified as problem-prone, according to District Collector S. Harikishore.

The Collector told reporters here on Monday that steps would be taken to strengthen security at all these problem-prone booths.

Security problems at 150 booths

Mr. Harikishore said 150 polling booths at 139 places in the district were likely to have security problems in the backdrop of political violence. The district election authority had decided to deploy additional police force at these places. The Superintendent of Police, the Collector and the Micro Election Observer would jointly inspect these booths.
