ZP poll aspirant to move court as his nomination papers are rejected

February 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - CHITRADURGA:

Chitradurga District Congress Committee general secretary and aspirant for the Guddadrangavvanhalli Zilla Panchayat constituency Shivu Yadav has said that he will approach the High Court of Karnataka questioning the rejection of his nomination papers, though he had submitted party B form, after filing his nomination papers.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said that as per norms, election officers at the district level should consider the candidature of a person who submits nomination papers first and also his party B form. Mr. Yadav claimed that another candidate of the Congress Babu Reddy had submitted nomination papers one day after he filed his nomination papers. But both the candidates were issued party B forms on the last day. So, both candidates submitted B forms on the last day.

Assistant Commissioner Tippeswamy, who took up the issue on Tuesday evening, announced that Mr. Reddy was the official candidate of the Congress and rejected the repeated appeals of Mr. Yadav.

Expressing ire over the issue, Mr. Yadav alleged that the officers concerned and the candidate were “hand-in-glove and that they had hatched a conspiracy to finish him off politically”.

He also said that a written complaint will be filed with the Election Commission in this connection. “Though Mr. Tippeswamy is a local person, he has been deputed for election duty which is against the norms. This will also be questioned in the High Court and mentioned in the complaint to the Election Commission,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Reddy said that the party had issued him the B form for contesting the elections and that he had no idea how Mr. Yadav had got the B form.
