Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rebuked B.S. Yeddyurappa, MP and president of the State BJP, for reportedly criticising the State government for its inept handling of drought and providing relief to people.

Responding to questions from presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “Mr. Yeddyurappa is issuing political statements with an ulterior motive without knowing how the State government is sincerely making efforts to tackle drought effectively and also provide relief to the people in the drought-hit districts.”

“It appears that Mr. Yeddyurappa has woken up now and has started his tour of the drought-hit areas, while four teams of Ministers were going round to assess the drought situation and steps taken to tackle it. I am also touring the State and have visited 11 districts and will visit other drought-affected districts in the third leg of my tour beginning on May 2,” he said.

Mr. Siddaramaiah, on change in leadership in the State, said it was only a gossip being created by his opponents. “I will complete my full five-year term. It is 200 per cent guaranteed,” he said.

Earlier, the CM, accompanied by his ministerial colleagues, visited a goshala in Alwandi, and Krishi Honda being implemented there, before taking up review of the drought situation.
