Yeddyurappa accused of discriminating against Scheduled Castes

July 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Kalaburagi:

The District Ahinda Samaana Manaskara Okkuta has accused former Chief Minister and BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa of discriminating against Scheduled Castes in the recent appointment of presidents to all district units of the party.

Member of the Okkuta Basavaraj Budihal, addressing presspersons in Kalaburagi on Wednesday, said that 36 presidents were appointed in urban and rural units in 30 districts across the State.

Though Mr. Yeddyurappa often spoke of according equal opportunities to people from all castes, he has failed to adopt the same in appointing district unit presidents.

Of the 36 newly appointed district presidents, 18 are from the Lingayat community, while 12 are from Other Backward Classes. Party presidents in just four districts belong to Scheduled Castes, Mr. Budihal added.

He urged Mr. Yeddyurappa to give equal opportunities to party workers from Scheduled Castes and appoint them to district unit president’s posts.

Of the 36 newly appointed district unit party presidents, only four belong to Scheduled Castes
