Vehicle restrictions continue

Vehicle movement from the border district of Chamarajanagar to Tamil Nadu continues to be restricted as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing tension over the Cauvery waters. Chamarajanagar district Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Kumar told The Hindu that the restrictions will continue to be in place at least till September 20, after which a decision will be taken. Mr. Kumar said that there were early morning and late night movement of a few private vehicles, but they were advised not to travel unless it was an emergency. The movement of KSRTC buses was also restricted at the border. There are seven entry and exit points from Chamarajanagar district to T.N., and security had been beefed up at all points.
