Uncertainty over conferring ‘Nadoja’

March 09, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - HAMPI:

Uncertainty prevails over the conferring of the prestigious ‘Nadoja’ at the 24th ‘Nudi Habba’ of Kannada University Hampi, scheduled for March 10.

The university is yet to get the approval from the Governor’s office for the panel of names to be conferred with ‘Nadoja’, according to Mallika Ghanti, Vice-Chancellor.

As per the government’s direction, only three persons would be conferred the award by the Governor, who is also the chancellor of the university.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Ms. Ghanti said that the university had submitted the panel of names recommended by the search committee to the office of the Governor a fortnight ago. “There might have been a delay because of the holidays. We hope to get a communication, clearing the names of those to be conferred with ‘Nadoja’, by Wednesday,” she added.

Incidentally, the university has started arrangements for holding the ‘Nudi Habba’. Invitations have also been printed mentioning that the Governor would preside over the function and confer the award. T.B. Jayachandra, Minister for Higher Education, who is also the Pro-Chancellor, would confer the D.Litt and Ph.D degrees. Dr. Purushotam Bilimale would deliver the ‘Nudi Habba’ address.
