Two die, 17 hurt as bus rams into tree

Two persons were killed and 17 others were injured when a private bus rammed into a tree near Manchikoppa Cross in Shikaripur taluk on Friday night.

The bus was heading to Manipal in Udupi district from Ranibennur city. The deceased have been identified as Gurushantappa (66) and Gurukiran (14).

The police said that the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a bend, owing to which it rammed into a tree on the roadside. The injured were admitted to a government hospital in Shikaripur town.

Yeddyurappa visits injured

Shivamogga MP B.S. Yeddyurappa visited the hospital on Saturday and consoled the injured.
