The Canine Club of Mysore (CCM) of Mysore, under the aegis of Canine Club of India, has organised a programme to implant microchips on dogs in the city on Sunday at Veterinary Hospital on Dhanavanthri road. Those who have dogs may make use of the programme to implant microchips on their pets. These chips enable people to identify their pets in case they are stolen or lost. It is also is an prerequisite to take part in any dog show.

B.P. Manjunath, president of the CCM, said that micro chips would be implanted on dogs, of reputed breeds, which are older than a year. He said that it had come to the notice of the CCM that many people who have dogs took their animals to Chennai, spending over Rs.10, 000 to get microchips implanted and get papers for their animals. Hence, it organised the camp to help such people , he said. The CCM will charge an amount of Rs.1, 000 per dog including microchip implantation and entry fees for the national dog show that will be organised in Mysore on October 25. Apart from the chips and entry fees, those who get their dogs implanted with the chips will get copies of the monthly magazine of the Canine Club of Mysore every month apart from the Indian Cannel Gazette. It will have comprehensive information about different types of dogs and how to train a dog and how to look after dogs. A team of officials from CCI would come and inspect the dogs. The chips will be implanted only after they certify the dogs.
