Topper wants to take up medicine

It was celebration time at Mahesh Pre-University College as II PU student Pratiksha J. Pai emerged with flying colours by bagging the eighth rank in the medical stream in the Common Entrance Test (CET), the results of which were announced on Saturday.

Ms. Pratiksha also bagged the fifth rank in Ayurveda and 39th rank in engineering. She is the daughter of businessman Jayant Pai and Bharati Pai, principal, JSS PU College, Dharwad, who are originally from Gokarna in Uttara Kannada district.

Ms. Pratiksha told The Hindu that said she would prefer to take up MBBS and become a neurologist. She said that she had not gone for tuition classes.

She said that she expected a rank below 10. Ms. Pratiksha attributed her success to her teachers, parents and friends. She scored 97.17 per cent and got 100 marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 99 in Biology.
