Schools in Koppal to work as usual

In view of the bandh call given by pro-Kannada and other social organisations to protest against the decision of the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal, the Ballari district administration has, as a precautionary measure, declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on Saturday throughout the district.

However, in Koppal, the Deputy Commissioner has said that all schools and colleges will function as usual.

In Dharwad

Dharwad Staff Correspondent reports:

Deputy Commissioner S.B. Bommanahalli has issued orders declaring holiday for schools and colleges in Dharwad district on Saturday. This order has been issued in the backdrop of the bandh call given by various organisations, a release from the Department of Information and Public Relations said.

Meanwhile, Hubballi-Dharwad Commissioner of Police Pandurang Rane held a meeting with representatives of different organisations and appealed to them to hold the proposed agitation in a peaceful manner and not to give any scope for any law and order problems. Additional bandobast has been made in the city to ensure security.

In Chitradurga

Chitradurga Staff Correspondent reports:

In wake of the bandh call given by various pro-Kannada organisations on Saturday to protest against the rejection of the State’s petition seeking 7.5 tmcft of water by the Mahadayi tribunal, Chitradurga Deputy Commissioner Srirangaiah has announced a holiday for schools and colleges across the district to maintain law and order.

In Davangere, also Deputy Commissioner D.S. Ramesh has announced holiday for schools and colleges.
