‘Remove advt. boards on streetlight poles’

April 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Yadgir:

Samson Malikeri, vice-president of the Yadgir City Municipal Council (CMC), has directed the officials to take steps to remove advertisement boards installed on street light poles from Subhash Chowk to Government Degree College, Shashtry Chowk to zilla panchayat office and Hosalli Cross in 24 hours.

The issue was discussed at a council meeting held for presentation of the budget on Monday.

The former chairperson Lalitha Anupur alleged that the officials had given permission to advertisement agencies to put up boards without calling tenders and violating the directions.

Moinuddin, CMC commissioner, said that advertisement boards had been erected on 97 poles and Rs. 1.06 lakh had been collected from two agencies. He added that they would call fresh tenders for the purpose.
