Rakshita may contest from Bangalore South

The Janata Dal (Secular) Parliamentary Board has recommended the names of probable candidates for 22 of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the State. The board has recommended single names for 15 constituencies and two or three names for the rest.

According to party sources, there is pressure to field Nikhil Gowda, son of H.D. Kumaraswamy, from Bangalore Rural and Anitha Kumaraswamy from Chickballapur despite party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda’s reluctance to field family members. Mr. Deve Gowda is firm on contesting from his home turf — Hassan. Film actor-producer Rakshita Prem may face Nandan Nilekani and Ananth Kumar in Bangalore South.

Recommendations

The names recommended by the board are: Hassan – Mr. Deve Gowda; Chickballapur – Ms. Kumaraswamy; Mandya – C.S. Puttaraju; Chamarajanagar – M. Shivanna; Bangalore Rural – Prabhakara Reddy; Bangalore Central – Nandini Alwa, Abdul Azeem and Muzamir Ahmed Khan; Bangalore South – Ms. Rakshita Prem and Hanumanthe Gowda; Tumkur – A. Krishnappa and Huli Naikar; Kolar – Keshav Kolar and Siddaiah; Uttara Kannada Shivananda Naik; Belgaum – Ashok Poojari; Shimoga – Geetha Shivarajkumar, Madhu Bangarappa and Shakuntala Bangarappa; Davangere –Saifulla; Chitradurga – Gulihatti Shekar; Dharwad – Altaf Kittur, Naseeruddin and Mallikarjuna S. Akki; Chikkodi – Uttam Patil; Bijapur – Danappa Kattimani, Devanand Chouhan and Rajapala Chouhan; Gulbarga – D.G. Sagar; Bidar – Bandeppa Kashempur, Mallikarjuna Khuba and Zulfikar Hashmi; Raichur – Raja Amaresha Naik, and Haveri – Ashok Bevinamarad, Parameshwar Melmane and H.S. Malagi.
