Pt. Venkatesh Kumar to be honoured tomorrow

Pandit M. Venkatesh Kumar, Hindustani vocalist, will be felicitated at Dr. Joladarashi Doddanagouda Rangamandir here at 6 p.m. on May 29.

Prabhudev Kappagal, secretary of Rangathorana, told presspersons here on Friday that the function was being held under the banner of ‘Swarathorana’, a musical wing of Rangathorana in association with SUCO Bank.

“Pandit Venkatesh Kumar, though a native of D. Hirehal, a Kannada-speaking border area of Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, just 18 km away from Ballari city, belong to the city in all respects. He is the nephew of Nadoja Belagal Veeranna, chairman of the Karnataka Bylaata and Yakshagana Academy” he said.

Later, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar would give a concert. Entry is free.
