Residents of Varuna Constituency staged a dharna at the zilla panchayat office on Tuesday seeking adequate supply of drinking water.
Carrying empty pots, the protestors, including many women, staged a protest in front of the ZP office over irregular supply of water.
The former zilla panchayat president K. Siddaveerappa, who led the protest, demanded regular supply of water to villages near Varuna and complained that there was no proper supply to some villages since over a year.
He alleged that the officials had been making false promises to end the water crisis.
Declining groundwater
With the decline of groundwater table, water yield from borewells had also dropped, the protestors said.
The protestors also alleged that contaminated water was being supplied.
This is second time that residents submitted memorandum to the officials seeking action on drinking water.
