Due to capacity enhancement work at the 400/220 KV Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) receiving station at Bastipura in Mysuru, there will be power outages in all areas of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagara and Kodagu on Thursday.

A press statement from Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) Limited has said that there will be power outages between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in all the areas of CESC on June 23.

However, a senior official of CESC said the electricity supply company will make alternative arrangements to provide power to most areas from different stations as the work at the power station at Bastipura will take up the entire day.

The capacity enhancement work to be carried out by officials of PGCIL will help remove the restrictions on supply of power to Mysuru and surrounding areas. By enhancing the capacity of the transformer at the receiving station, the restrictions on power supply during peak hours will be removed. The transformer will not be overloaded during peak hours, the official added.
