August 10, 2016 08:28 am | Updated 08:28 am IST - BALLARI:

S.R. Hiremath of Samaj Parivarthan Samudaya has underlined the need for launching a unified non-violent movement to keep the corrupt away from public life.

Speaking at a convention to give a call to the corrupt to quit public life, organised by Jan Sangram Parishat, the samudaya and other social organisations to mark the 74th anniversary of Quit India Movement here on Tuesday, Mr. Hiremath was of the view that corrupt politicians, their greed and negative activities had severely affected social life. To put an end to such activities, including the loot of natural resources by unscrupulous elements, there is a need for a self-less unified struggle by people to protect the natural resources for posterity.

Sirimane Nagaraj of the Samanategagi Janandolan expressed concern over corruption percolating to every sphere.

He said that a protest would be held under the banner of Maha Maitri at Bengaluru on August 20.
