The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), which were at loggerheads over the issue of transfer of MUDA-approved layouts, appear to have softened their tough stance against each other.

The issue of transfer of 81 MUDA-approved layouts, which the MCC had been resisting from the last few months, led to a fresh round of resentment between the two civic bodies when MUDA Chairman K.R. Mohan Kumar and Commissioner M. Mahesh chose to skip a meeting convened by the MCC last week to discuss the matter.

Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa, who was angry with the MUDA for the failure of its Chairman and Commissioner to turn up for the meeting, appears to have softened his stance now. “We will communicate to them through the Deputy Commissioner and let them (MUDA) fix a date for the next meeting,” he told The Hindu.

Mr. Mohan Kumar, on his part, said the MUDA, which has handed over the files pertaining to all the completed 81 layouts in the eight zones of MUDA, would fully cooperate with the MCC.

All the layouts have civic amenity sites, a sewage treatment plant, a park, UGD lines, street lighting, transformers, roads and other required facilities. “If the MCC finds any deficiencies and wants them to be rectified, the MUDA will oblige,” Mr. Mohan Kumar said. He said the MUDA does not release sites for registration to the private developer if the civic infrastructure is not in place.
