Mangaluru North MLA B.A. Mohiuddin Bava suffered a fracture on his left arm after the car he was travelling in fell into a ditch at Panambur, near Mangaluru, on Wednesday.

According to police, Mr. Bava was on his way to Mangaluru International Airport to catch a flight to Bengaluru. Near the MCF in Panambur, Mr. Bava’s driver saw the gate of the railway level crossing closed to allow movement of a goods train carrying material of the MCF to the New Mangaluru Port Trust.

The police said while trying to bring the vehicle to a halt the driver lost control and it fell into a ditch around 7 a.m. The MLA, who hurt his left shoulder, was taken to a private hospital in Kadri. The driver was unhurt. There were minor damages to the vehicle.

The hospital authorities said a surgical procedure would be done on Wednesday evening to set right the hairline fracture the MLA has suffered.
