Energy Minister and district in-charge D.K. Shivakumar urged officials to visit rural areas to ensure effective implementation of schemes. He was speaking at Somanahalli in Nagamangala taluk, after inaugurating the Morarji Desai Residential School building, on Friday.

Rural development is one of the government’s main priorities. Officials should stay in rural areas to ensure that benefits are effectively reaching the needy, the Minister said. He demanded that village accountants, panchayat development officers, health, revenue and agriculture department officials visit villages.

A sum of Rs. 600 crore has been granted to take up developmental projects across Nagamangala taluk. A ‘Yatri Nivas’ at Nagamangala and the hostel building of the government polytechnic college were also inaugurated.

Later, Mr. Shivakumar inaugurated power substations of Ganjigere and Krishnapura villages at a function at K.R. Pet town in the district.
