Heavy rain destroyed the weekly market in Sagar village in Shahpur talauk of Yadgir district on Sunday evening.

Vendors who had come from Surpur and Shahpur taluks faced heavy losses after their vegetables were washed away as many of them were unable to shift the bags to safer places.

“We have lost vegetables worth over thousands of rupees by the sudden rain as we were not prepared for it,” Sharanamma, a vegetable vendor from a nearby village, said. “The market usually witnesses huge crowds every Sunday. Today, however, it wore a deserted look after the rain,” another vendor said.
