Mandya gears up for International Day of Yoga

To commemorate the second International Day of Yoga, the district administration has decided to organise various programmes on June 21, Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nagabhushan has said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Nagabhushan said that a mass yoga session will be organised at Sir M. Visvesvaraya District Stadium here in association with the Department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Unani, Sidha and Homeopathy) and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK).

Housing Minister and district in-charge M.H. Ambareesh will inaugurate the programme. Elected representatives and government employees will participate in the programme, he said.

Seminars, interactions and discussions to raise awareness about the significance of yoga will also be held at Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kala Mandira and at the Department of AYUSH in the town.

Mr. Nagabhushan has requested the managements of educational institutions to celebrate the International Day of Yoga across the district.

District AYUSH Officer Dr. B.S. Seethalakshmi, NYK District Coordinator S. Siddaramappa and others were present.Meanwhile, Abhinava Bharati Vidya Kendra High School in the town and some other schools in the district have already started preparations to celebrate the day The Abhinava Bharati Vidya Kendra, on Saturday, commenced yoga practise sessions at the school.
