Man sentenced to five years in jail for negligent driving

The Fourth Additional District Court in Bhadravathi has sentenced a person to five years in jail after finding him guilty of negligent driving. Shivakumar (25), a resident of Yadehalli, was killed after he was hit by a speeding car. The police had arrested Shivashankar (35), a resident of Donihalli, Channagiri taluk, the driver of the car. In the chargesheet filed, it was alleged that, Shivashankar was under the influence of alcohol and was using his mobile phone while driving. He had lost control of the vehicle and had hit the victim. The Court held Shivashankar guilty and sentenced him to five years in jail and also imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000.
