Man killed, two injured as car hits mini bus

One person was killed and two others were injured when a car hit a bus at Mudar village, which comes under Karkala Rural police station limits, in Udupi district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Nischit Gowda (26), the car driver. According to the police, one Rajendra Rao was driving his mini bus from Karimarukatte to Kadari when a car, going from Bajagoli to Karkala, tried to overtake. In the process, the car veered to the right and hit the bus. The accident occurred around 8.30 a.m.

The car driver suffered severe injuries. A woman and a child, who too were in the car, suffered minor injuries.

Nischit was given first aid at the government hospital in Karkala, and then shifted to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal, when he died around 10.45 a.m.

A case had been registered at the Karkala Rural police station and investigation is on.
