Vijayalakshmi Upnal, Principal District and Sessions Judge, on Saturday awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to Basavaraj and slapped a fine of Rs. 10,000 on him after convicting him of kidnapping a minor girl and sexually harassing her under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Basavaraj, a resident of Kasanakandi in Koppal taluk, was in love with the minor girl and he sexually harassed her before eloping with her to Bengaluru on October 15, 2014, to tie the knot.
Case
A case of kidnapping was registered in Munirabad police station against him and charge sheet was filed.
