Sumanth (22), a resident of Tirthahalli, sustained serious injuries when he was allegedly attacked by a girl near private bus stand in the town on Friday.
According to the police, Sumanth and the attacker, a student pursuing her final year in BBM at a private college, were in love with each other from past two years. The police said that, since they belonged to different castes, the elders of both the families had opposed their relationship, owing to which Sumanth had turned down the girl’s marriage proposal. He remained adamant in his decision even after several requests from the girl in this regard.
Dejected, she allegedly attacked him with a blade. The victim sustained serious injuries on his face. The girl fled the scene and Sumanth has been hospitalised.
Tirthahalli police have booked a case.
