The Karnataka State PU College Lecturers’ Welfare Association has been providing special coaching to students who failed II PU, in a bid to help them pass the supplementary examination.
The association, with the help of over 50 PU lecturers, has been coaching students for three weeks. Hundreds of students from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and other districts are being taught for free.
Special coaching is being given in physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, accountancy, economics, and English.
Kadanuru Shive Gowda, president of the association, told The Hindu that the association had appealed to the State government several times to hold special classes for students who failed II PU in all districts and prepare them for the supplementary examination. But nothing has been done, he said, adding that this prompted the association to start providing tuitions.
He said that after noticing students committing suicide, the association decided to bring those who have failed the exams under one platform and instil confidence in them.
Lecturers from different institutions have volunteered to train the students without demanding anything in return. They provide tuitions during their free hours, Mr. Gowda said.
