Land issues dominate grievance meeting

July 24, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - Bidar:

Most complaints received during the public grievance meeting, convened by the district in-charge Minister Eshwar Khandre, were regarding land ownership issues or pleas by youths seeking government jobs.

The Minister instructed Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari to settle all land related issues through his Assistant Commissioners or tahsildars.

“You have to monitor each case file and see that the process is transparent and according to the rules,” he said.

One complainant from Humnabad said that though his family owned nine acres of land, the government records showed only eight acres. This will be corrected soon, the Minister said.

Ambanna Narasappa from Bidar taluk, a person with physical disabilities, complained that the tahsildar was yet to correct errors in his land records even after five years of applying for it.

Mr. Khandre asked Assistant Commissioner Venkat Raja to resolve the issue.

He announced that all government jobs were filled on principles of merit and reservation and no Minister or official could promise anyone of jobs.

Sri Shiva Kumar Swamy and others from Basavakalyan complained that real estate developers were building a residential layout in violation of revenue and environment protection guidelines in Basavakalyan.

Mr. Khandre asked Mr. Tewari to inspect the site, take appropriate action and send a report.

Somanath Ghaleppa from Bhalki, a Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha member, complained that panchayat development officers and taluk panchayat officers were not releasing money to him for taking up works under MNREGA.

Some residents of Hangarga village in Aurad taluk complained that Prabhu Chauhan, MLA, was trying to shift the high school sanctioned to the village to his tanda that is three kilometers away from the village.

Mr. Khandre said that he would organise a meeting with the MLA and others and take a decision.

One complainant alleged that the brother of Rahim Khan, MLA, was encroaching upon land belonging to a burial ground and converting it into a residential layout in Chidri village in Bidar taluk. Mr. Khandre said that no one who violated the rules would be spared and instructed the DC to conduct an inquiry into the issue.
