Joint operation by forest staff, police enthrals onlookers

May 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - MYSURU:

Hundreds of people watched as Dasara elephant Abhimanyu and another tusker named Srinivas drove away the herd of five wild elephants at the Kapila River close to T. Narsipur on Friday.

Forest officials said that the crowds cooperated with the forest staff and looked on curiously while the operation involving over 200 staff and over a dozen police personnel was underway.

The picture of the tall tusker Abhimanyu pushing the wild elephants from the river back towards the woods was captured by the people on their mobile phones and cameras.
