Minister for Urban Development Vinay Kumar Sorake on Thursday said that the cut in grants under Phase II of the Jawarharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) will not come in the way of development since the State government is ready to contribute a higher share.
The Minister said that the Centre releases only 50 per cent of the project cost under JNNURM and the remaining has to be borne by the State government.
Earlier, the Centre contributed 80 per cent and 20 per cent was the State’s. But, the cut will not hamper development with the government committed to share 50 per cent of its share.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Outer Ring Road here, Mr. Sorake said that Mysuru had bagged the cleanest city tag for the second time in a row. This has perhaps increased the demand for housing in the city of Mysuru.
This government will ensure that the housing needs of the people of Mysuru will be met by establishing new layouts.
The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has proposed a new layout at Ballenahalli near here where over 6,000 sites will be formed and the government had given its nod. The formation is being done at 50:50 ratio with equal division of sites by the MUDA and the land givers.
With the approval for comprehensive development plan-2031 prepared by the MUDA, more private layouts are expected to come up, fulfilling the aspiration of owning a site in Mysuru.
State government is prepared to release 50 per
cent of its share, up from the
