February 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Hassan:

Residents of Halekote hobli in Holenarsipur taluk on Wednesday appealed to Bhavani Revanna, wife of Janta Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna and daughter-in-law of the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, to contest the Hassan Zilla Panchayat election from Halekote constituency. Her supporters gathered in front of her residence at Holenarasipur, raised slogans and appealed to the party leadership to field her in the election. Both Mr. Revanna and Ms. Bhavani Revanna tried to pacify the supporters by saying that they would abide by the advice and guidance of Mr. Gowda.

Recently, the party workers had urged their leaders to field Ms. Revenna in the elections to the Legislative Council.

Defeat

The party fielded Patel Shivaram in that election and suffered a defeat. Now, the supporters want Ms. Revanna to contest the ZP polls to strengthen the party.
