The Janata Dal (Secular) has come to power at Bidadi City Municipal Council (CMC) by winning 12 of the total 23 seats. The remaining seats have been won by the Congress candidates.

The polling was held on April 24 and the counting of votes was taken up at the Government First Grade College on Kethuganahalli Main Road in Bidadi on Wednesday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which fielded nine candidates, suffered a major setback as none from the party won the elections. All four Independents candidates also failed to attract the voters.

The April 24 election had become a prestige issue for the BJP. A large number of supporters of its newly appointed State president B.S. Yeddyurappa had campaigned for the party candidates.
