Shantappa Gurunath Nelogi (30) hailing from Savaleshwar village in Aland taluk in Kalaburagi district died in the border area of Jammu and Kashmir after his vehicle fell into a gorge, killing two other jawans along with him.

Reports reaching here on Thursday evening said that Shantappa was a driver and joined the force a couple of years ago. He was posted to Jammu and Kashmir two years ago.

He is survived by his elderly parents, a brother and three sisters. His brother Shivalingappa is the vice-president of Savaleshwar Gram Panchayat. The mortal remains of the jawan are excepted to arrive in Hyderabad by air tomorrow and reach his native village by road late in the night on Friday.

The last rites is expected to be performed on Saturday.
