The NCC cadets of Karnataka and Goa directorate, who won various medals after their return to Vijayapura on Friday.

The National Cadet Crop (NCC) directorate, Karnataka and Goa, has emerged national champions in the All India Thal Sainik camp (Girls) held Delhi. The boys of the directorate were runners-up in various events.

According to a release here, the cadets participated in various activities such as parade, firing and map reading.

The students underwent training under the supervision of air commander, C. Rajeev, at the camps in Vijayapura.

The release said that while cadets, Mubin and Mahadev, won the gold medal in shooting, cadets, Mahesh Rathod, Vijay, Devraj, won the gold medal in Judging Distance and cadets, Rohini, Shailashree, Nagaveni and Theresa, also won the gold medal in Map Reading.

Cadet Ashwini Math of Vijayapura won the silver medal in shooting, and cadets, Prajwal, Akshay, Jainuddin, Riyaz, Sriram, Prasanna, Vajreshwari, Rekha, Vaishnavi, Sindhuja, Swathi, and Khushbu, also won silver and bronze medals.

Colonel A.S.N. Rao, Ballari Group Commander, felicitated the cadets on Friday after their return to Vijayapura from Delhi. Cadet Mahadev of Kalaburagi who won the gold medal said that it was a dream come true to be able to participate in this prestigious competition after a gruelling training schedule.

Cadet Swathi C.G., the girl senior from Christ University, Bengaluru, recounted her experiences in Delhi. The teams were trained at 36 Karnataka Battalion, Vijayapura, under Lieutenant Colonel J.S. Brar from 28 August to 16 September 2015 before being dispatched to Delhi, the release added.
